Young Polnish mezzosoprano ANNA GRCAN first studied at the Akademia Muzyczna im. Karola Lipinskiego in Wrocław with Olga Ksenicz (Bachelor's Degree), and later on in the Erasmus Program with Christiane Junghans at the Hochschule für Musik Carl Maria von Weber in Dresden and with Prof. Hendrikje Wangemann (Master's Degree & Stage Solo Degree) Masterclasses with Laura Aikin, Olaf Bär, Isabela Klosińska, Agnieszka Rehlis, Matthias Rexroth, Małgorzata Walewska, Gerd Ücker and Teresa Żylis-Gara completed her education. Since 2024, Mrs Grycan is coached by the renowned voice-teacher Raymond Modesti in Amsterdam, In the 2024/25 season, Anna Grycan will be hired at the Schleswig-Holsteinisches Landestheater Flensburg & Rendsburg: performing among others in "STARK - a concert for Ethel Smyth" and the role of HÄNSEL in Humperdinck's "Hänsel & Gretel", which she already embodied as a member of the Opera Studio at Theater Chemnitz. On the Main Stage, she appeared in the roles of DUCHSHUND & WOODPECKER in Janáček's „The cunning little Vixen“, SANDMAN in Humperdinck's "Hänsel & Gretel" (auch auch DVD), MERCÉDÈS in Bizets "Carmen, OLGA in Lehár's operetta "The Merry Widow", ELEONOR DUNABR in Tom Snow's Musical "Footloose“, IRENE SCHREIBER, SALESWOMAN, POLICEWOMAN and CONTROLLER in Oliver Ostermann's & Geffrey Goldberg's WORLD-PREMIERE „Spook under the Ferris Wheel", Mrs. EYNSFORD-HILL in Loewes Musical „My Fair Lady“ and IDA in J. Strauß' „The Bat“, and sang the MEZZO-PART/ Solo-Qaurtett T in Mozart's „The Abduction from Serail“ In Opera-Studio productions, Anna embodied SHE in Harvey Schmidt's „I do, I do“ and appeared in many Opera-Concerts and Song-Recitals, a.o. „Lebensträume und Liebeslieder“ and "Ich lade gern mir Gäste ein", a program, which also brought her to the Graf-Zeppelin-Haus in Friedrichshafen. Guest-contracts included MAŁGORZATA in Moniuszko's "Nowy Don Kichot - czyli sto szaleństw" (The New Don Quixote or 100 Madnesses) to the Warsaw Chamber Opera and the International Moniuszko Festival in Kudowa-Zdrój, where she also embodied sie KATARZYNA in Moniuszko's "Karmaniol - czyli Francuzi lubią żartować" (Carmagnole or the French love to joke), a part, which she also appeared at the Opera Nova Bydgoszcz;PRINZ ORLOFSKY in J. Strauß "The Bat" brought her to the Opera-Studio Weimar and the Castle-Garden's Theatre Arnstadt and AMARANTA in Paisiello's "La Molinara" to the Chamber Opera at Castle Rheinsberg, where she also sang in Opera-Galas. In addition, she recorded Polish and Hebrew Lullabies for the Ballet-production "Dwa-Zwei" at Theater Osnabrück; and the ALTO-SOLO in Händel's "Messiah" brought her with Musicae Antiquae Collegium Varsoviense under the baton of Adam Banaszak to the Chamber Opera in Warsaw. In productions of the conservatories in Poland and Germany, Mrs Grycan was seen as RUGGIERO in Händel's "Alcina" (performed in the Staatsschauspiel Dresden), as L'ENFANT in Ravels "L'enfant et les sortilèges", as CHERUBINO in Mozart's "Le Nozze di Figaro“ and as NUTRICE in Monteverdi's "L'Incoronazione di Poppea". Since several years, Mrs Grycan is working on a regular base with the cross-disciplinary nesemble Theatr Pieśń Kozła (Theatre of the Song of the Goat) in Wrocław. With them, she appeared in the parts of GERTRUDA in "Hamlet - the comment", THE KING's FOOL in "Songs of Lear", CASSANDRA in "Cassandra's Report / Antigone", KASANDRA in "Warrior" and LUCIUS in "Titus Andornicus Syndecdoche" in Poland and abroad. Venues included Great Theatre of China Shanghai, Shakespeare's Globe London, Zellerbach Playhouse Berkley (USA), Espoo Cultural Centre Tapiola Hall (Finland), Shanghai Oriental Arts Center, Tianjin Grand Theatre and Opera House, Beijing, Tanqiao Performing Arts Center, Shakespeare Festival <Hamletscenen> in Helsingør (Denmark). Edinburgh Fringe Festival. and the Israel Festival Jerusalem; as well as in Poland the Teatr Piśń Kozła in Wrocław, Teatr Polski in Wrocław. Teatr Dramatyczny in Warszaw and Teatr im, St, I,, Witkiewicza in Zakopane.
In addition, Mrs Grycan performed in concerts, a.o. Murray Schafer's "Requiem for a pretty girl" at the Film & Opera Academy <Isola Brissago> (Switzerland), Beethoven's "Missa C-Dur" and Bernstein's "Chichester Psalms" with the Orchestra of the Dresden Conservatory, "Missa pro Pace" by W. Kilar with the Sudecian Philharmony, Buxtehude's "Membra Jesu Nostri" , Telemann's "Die Tageszeiten", Charpentier's "La Reniement de Saint Pierre" and "Quatuor Elementa" by F. A. Miča with the NFM Wroclaw, as well as Moniuszko's "III. Litania Ostrobramska" with the Opolska Philharmony. Anna Grycan had the pleasure to work with conductors and stage directors such as Adam Banaszak, Benjamin Beyl, Jakob Brenner, Guillermo Garcia Calvo, Sylvain Cambreling, Diego Martin Etxeberria, Bernhard Forck, Wolfgang Katschner, Jerôme Knols,, Jens Neubert, Steffen Piontek, Johannes Pölzgutter, Hans-Christoph Rademan, Joan Anton Rechi, Azis Sadikovic, Arila Siegert, Roberto Skolmowski or Marcin Sompoliński. Mrs Grycan received the 2nd Award at the Concorso Internationale di Canto Lirico im Italienischen Maiori (Italy); she was a Semi-finalist at the XX. Ada Sari International Singing Competition in Nowy Sącz (Poland); and was awarded with several Prizes at the International Vocal Competition of Chamber-Opera Castle Rheinberg (Germany) .
